I first arrived at Layer Road as a Bristol City follower, but a mercenary-like instinct of 'support your local team' meant that I was instantly converted. It wasn't quite like Paul's conversion on the road to Damascus as it was initially a question of loving my football and common sense economics. Eight league matches completed, two wins, four draws, league points ten, the U's position a healthy mid-table twelfth, despite being the pundit's relegation favourites. A year in office just completed by Joe Dunne with the relatively novice gaffer still enjoying the confidence of most fickle of fans.
